This I would do, I would say yes to painting nails AFTER I finished changing K.'s diaper.  I would agree to a random color of blue for fingers and toes.  I would NOT say yes to painting them by herself.  However, if it did happen, I would only refer to the # 1 rule in our house, "messes are ok, you just have to clean them up."  Then, I would spend the next 15 minutes with a Q tip and fingernail polish remover to remove the blue from all of the other places that were painted besides the finger nails.  Including the chin and belly button!
